The 'Family book’ display

Does your Family have a significant and dear book, story or a poem? Maybe a fairy tale your family has told before bedtime from one generation to the next?

Pick one book and enter a contest until August 31st , and perhaps your family will be among those, whose story and chosen book will be presented in the Display 'Family book' (orig. Dzimtas grāmata), in Riga, Liepaja and Rezekne in 2020.

3. Write your family's story, include facts and events that you want others to know about

4. Write a description of the one book that’s special to your family. Emphasize why was this book submitted to the contest

5. Take a photo of the chosen book

6. Send in the filled application form with the family story, description and a picture of the book until August 31st.

The results

From all the family’s that will submit their personal stories and books to the contest, we will pick eight that will be shown in a dedicated display and a video. In summary, twelve family stories will be included in the 'Family book' Display.
Four stories will come from families that are included in the book 'House Coats of Arms in Modern Latvia'.

The results will be announced on October 1st, 2019. The filming of the chosen families is expected to happen from October 2019 until December 2019.

The opening of the exhibition is expected in January 2020 in the National Library of Latvia, however in February the exhibition can be seen in Liepaja (in Liepājas Latviešu biedrības nams), and in March - at the Latgale embassy GORS in Rezekne.

Jury

The received family stories will be evaluated by a group of professionals.
