‘Encyclopedia of Latvia’ (2002-2009)

The ‘Encyclopedia of Latvi’ is a five-volume encyclopedia that includes articles related to Latvia. It also covers general topics viewing them from the Latvian perspective. The encyclopaedia covers topics on Latvian nature, economy, population, history, science, culture, religion, sports, as well as other topics. Large number of authors has contributed their original articles for the encyclopaedia. In total, five volumes of the Latvian encyclopedia contain 24 292 articles, of which 7992 are biographies, 111 maps, 210 tables, and 7421 images.

The book was published in the publishing house of Valērijs Belokoņs from 2002 to 2009 in Riga. Following the encyclopaedia ‘Latvian Nature’ (issued from 1994 to 1998), this is the second largescale encyclopedia devoted to Latvia, which was published in Latvia after the restoration of independence.
